Serum lactate dehydrogenase in detecting liver damage associated with pre-eclampsia. Assessment of liver damage by estimation of serum enzymes including lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and its hepatic fraction, LDH5, was made in 60 normal pregnant women, 20 patients with pre-eclampsia and 10 with eclampsia. Definite evidence of damage was found in patients with pre-eclampsia and eclampsia and was related to the severity of the disease.
