At the time of this review, the number of cell-based clinical investigations to explore the therapeutic potential of cell treatment for SARS-CoV-2 infected patients registered since late January 2020 on the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) ClinicalTrials.gov database and the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (www.chictr.org.cn), also accessible from the World Health Organization International Clinical Trial Registry Platform (WHO-ICTRP), has reached 27 entries with a total of approximately 1287 patients considered for enrolment (table 2). |
