Robert Graves: Graves' disease of the thyroid. In the English-speaking world, the eponym 'Graves' Disease' is commonly used to describe hyperthyroidism, usually in association with exopthalmos and usually in young women. I personally avoid this term and I hope to convince you of my reason for this in this paper.
