Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura and deep vein thrombosis as the presenting manifestations of systemic lupus erythematosus: A case report and review of literature. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is sometimes complicated by the rare fatal syndrome, Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), but the occurrence of TTP as the initial manifestation of SLE is very rare. Since they have similarities in some features, the differentiation of TTP from SLE may be missed. SLE patients are also more prone to thrombotic events. Here we report a case with TTP and deep vein thrombosis as the presenting symptoms of SLE.
