Exploratory factor analysis of the original validation study highlighted a six-factor model for the DERS. The six-factor model is reflected into six subscales yielding a total score: (a) lack of emotional awareness (Awareness; “I am attentive to my feelings”); (b) lack of emotional clarity (Clarity; “I have difficulty making sense out of my feelings”); (c) impulse control difficulties when distressed (Impulse; “When I’m upset, I become out of control”); (d) difficulties engaging in goal-directed behaviors when distressed (Goals; “When I’m upset, I have difficulty getting work done”); (e) unwillingness to accept emotional responses (Non-acceptance; “When I’m upset, I become angry at myself for feeling that way); and (f) lack of access to emotion regulation strategies (Strategies; “When I’m upset, I believe there is nothing I can do to feel better”). Participants rate each item using a 5-point Likert-type scale (1 = almost never; 5 = almost always). The DERS total score ranges from 36 to 180. The higher the DERS total scores, the greater the difficulties in emotion regulation. In prior studies, the DERS has demonstrated convergent validity with other established measures of emotion dysregulation, good test–retest reliability, excellent internal consistency, and adequate predictive validity of several behavioral outcomes associated with emotion dysregulation.","tracks":[{"project":"LitCovid-sentences","denotations":[{"id":"T71","span":{"begin":0,"end":199},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T72","span":{"begin":200,"end":305},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T73","span":{"begin":306,"end":1060},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T74","span":{"begin":1061,"end":1161},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T75","span":{"begin":1162,"end":1205},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T76","span":{"begin":1206,"end":1291},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T77","span":{"begin":1292,"end":1578},"obj":"Sentence"}],"namespaces":[{"prefix":"_base","uri":"http://pubannotation.org/ontology/tao.owl#"}],"attributes":[{"subj":"T71","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-sentences"},{"subj":"T72","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-sentences"},{"subj":"T73","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-sentences"},{"subj":"T74","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-sentences"},{"subj":"T75","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-sentences"},{"subj":"T76","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-sentences"},{"subj":"T77","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-sentences"}]},{"project":"LitCovid-PubTator","denotations":[{"id":"159","span":{"begin":1061,"end":1073},"obj":"Species"}],"attributes":[{"id":"A159","pred":"tao:has_database_id","subj":"159","obj":"Tax:9606"},{"subj":"159","pred":"source","obj":"LitCovid-PubTator"}],"namespaces":[{"prefix":"Tax","uri":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/taxonomy/"},{"prefix":"MESH","uri":"https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/"},{"prefix":"Gene","uri":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gene/"},{"prefix":"CVCL","uri":"https://web.expasy.org/cellosaurus/CVCL_"}]}],"config":{"attribute types":[{"pred":"source","value type":"selection","values":[{"id":"LitCovid-sentences","color":"#ec93d4","default":true},{"id":"LitCovid-PubTator","color":"#93ecea"}]}]}}
