To further discriminate between colonization and infection we tested the Aspergillus specific LFD, a CE-certified point of care assay, specific for Aspergillus. This test detects actively growing hyphae during invasive infection and remains negative in case of Aspergillus colonization of the airways. The LFD was recently given an BII recommendation for diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis in the ESCMID/ECMM/ERS guidelines [12]."}
