Fibronectin/fibrinogen binding proteins also showed more than tenfold increase in biofilm stages and were suggested to have a significant role in E. faecalis associated urinary tract infections in a murine model [38] and endocarditis in rats [39]. Fibronectin binding protein mutants of community-associated MRSA losses the ability for fibronectin binding thereby preventing the establishment of biofilm in host tissue [40].
