Compared with normal pregnancies, pre-eclamptic pregnancies were associated with lower B-lymphocyte counts in the fathers; lower T-lymphocyte count, lower B-lymphocyte count, and impaired T-lymphocyte function in mothers; a low response in mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) tests between the mother and father; and an increased B-cell count in the children. Follow-up of one pre-eclamptic woman throughout pregnancy showed important immune changes at the beginning of the second trimester. These findings suggest that pre-eclampsia is caused by a combination of maternal and paternal hyporesponsiveness together with fetal hyperresponsiveness.","tracks":[{"project":"sentences","denotations":[{"id":"TextSentencer_T1","span":{"begin":0,"end":56},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"TextSentencer_T2","span":{"begin":57,"end":176},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"TextSentencer_T3","span":{"begin":177,"end":531},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"TextSentencer_T4","span":{"begin":532,"end":663},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"TextSentencer_T5","span":{"begin":664,"end":817},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T1","span":{"begin":0,"end":56},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T2","span":{"begin":57,"end":176},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T3","span":{"begin":177,"end":531},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T4","span":{"begin":532,"end":663},"obj":"Sentence"},{"id":"T5","span":{"begin":664,"end":817},"obj":"Sentence"}],"namespaces":[{"prefix":"_base","uri":"http://pubannotation.org/ontology/tao.owl#"}],"attributes":[{"subj":"TextSentencer_T1","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"TextSentencer_T2","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"TextSentencer_T3","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"TextSentencer_T4","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"TextSentencer_T5","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"T1","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"T2","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"T3","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"T4","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"},{"subj":"T5","pred":"source","obj":"sentences"}]},{"project":"Preeclampsia","denotations":[{"id":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T1","span":{"begin":0,"end":13},"obj":"ORPHA:275555"},{"id":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T2","span":{"begin":692,"end":705},"obj":"ORPHA:275555"}],"namespaces":[{"prefix":"ORPHA","uri":"www.orpha.net/consor/cgi-bin/OC_Exp.php?lng=EN\u0026Expert="}],"attributes":[{"subj":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T1","pred":"source","obj":"Preeclampsia"},{"subj":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T2","pred":"source","obj":"Preeclampsia"}]},{"project":"Preeclampsia-compare","denotations":[{"id":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T1","span":{"begin":0,"end":13},"obj":"ORPHA:275555"},{"id":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T2","span":{"begin":128,"end":141},"obj":"ORPHA:275555"},{"id":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T3","span":{"begin":211,"end":224},"obj":"ORPHA:275555"},{"id":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T4","span":{"begin":549,"end":562},"obj":"ORPHA:275555"},{"id":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T5","span":{"begin":692,"end":705},"obj":"ORPHA:275555"}],"namespaces":[{"prefix":"ORPHA","uri":"www.orpha.net/consor/cgi-bin/OC_Exp.php?lng=EN\u0026Expert="}],"attributes":[{"subj":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T1","pred":"source","obj":"Preeclampsia-compare"},{"subj":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T2","pred":"source","obj":"Preeclampsia-compare"},{"subj":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T3","pred":"source","obj":"Preeclampsia-compare"},{"subj":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T4","pred":"source","obj":"Preeclampsia-compare"},{"subj":"PD-Preeclampsia-B_T5","pred":"source","obj":"Preeclampsia-compare"}]}],"config":{"attribute types":[{"pred":"source","value type":"selection","values":[{"id":"sentences","color":"#ece393","default":true},{"id":"Preeclampsia","color":"#c993ec"},{"id":"Preeclampsia-compare","color":"#93ecaf"}]}]}}
