The K40 polysaccharide consists of [(O-beta-D-glucopyranosyluronic acid)-(1----4)-O-(2-acetamido-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl)-(1----6)-O -(2-acetamido-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl)-(1----4)] repeating units.
