{"project":"CucurLitBase-testset_BFT","denotations":[{"id":"T22","span":{"begin":81,"end":92},"obj":"BFT:3.4.2 chilling stress tolerance"}],"text":"To evaluate the influences of melatonin, H2O2, or Ca2+ on watermelon response to cold stress, the seedlings were sprayed with 150 µM melatonin [24], H2O2 (0.04, 0.2, 1, 5 mM), 20 mM CaCl2 [30,31], or distilled water (as the control). Melatonin (Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, USA) was dissolved in ethanol and then diluted with distilled water at a ratio of 1:10,000 [ethanol:water; v:v]. After 12 h, the watermelon seedlings were exposed to chilling treatment at 4 °C for 48 h. The leaves were sampled at 3, 6, 12, and 24 h time points during chilling exposure to analyze the expression of CBF pathway genes and at 48 h for cold tolerance assay. After the initial experiments, 1 mM H2O2 was selected for the subsequent experiments."}
