Further, the timely identification of SARS-CoV-2 in these suspected cases by the ICMR-NIV, Pune, has helped in the isolation of the patients, containment and enhanced surveillances for the virus and its restricted movement. The availability of the genomic sequences of the identified cases will contribute to the public repositories and help towards the development of diagnostics, vaccines and antivirals.
