Due to multiple factors including rapid spread and invasion into city centers, large numbers of secondary cases due to insufficient personnel availability and training, inadequate use and limited quantities of PPE, and initial public health failures, the latest and worst EBOV outbreak became an international public health emergency.[105106] With advances in rapid diagnostics never before used in prior Ebola outbreaks, effective POC testing should prove useful for improving active public health surveillance.\nEbola outbreaks have been documented for over 40 years, and likely will occur in the future. Technology has made world-wide communication instantaneous, and these outbreaks will quickly become known to the international community and hopefully, prompt immediate, coordinated response efforts. Such efforts should build upon lessons learned during the 2014-2015 outbreak, with emphasis on successful techniques of control and containment, but this alone is not sufficient. The global community should strive to achieve better means of prevention, which in turn depends on continued interest in, and active support of, vaccine efforts as previously discussed.[63107108] Now is the time for the international community and specifically those most capable of vaccine research and development to focus on this effort. Sustained containment will depend on coordinated multi-national and multi-disciplinary efforts, community involvement and trust, as well as continued commitment from local, regional, and global leadership.\n\nFinancial support and sponsorship\nNil.\n\nConflicts of interest\nThere are no conflicts of interest.","divisions":[{"label":"title","span":{"begin":0,"end":11}},{"label":"p","span":{"begin":12,"end":689}},{"label":"p","span":{"begin":690,"end":1708}},{"label":"sec","span":{"begin":1710,"end":1748}},{"label":"title","span":{"begin":1710,"end":1743}},{"label":"p","span":{"begin":1744,"end":1748}},{"label":"title","span":{"begin":1750,"end":1771}}],"tracks":[{"project":"TEST0","denotations":[{"id":"26752867-229-236-1465765","span":{"begin":512,"end":515},"obj":"[\"25592846\"]"},{"id":"26752867-233-242-1465766","span":{"begin":1348,"end":1353},"obj":"[\"25852148\"]"},{"id":"26752867-220-232-1465767","span":{"begin":1348,"end":1356},"obj":"[\"25595637\"]"}],"attributes":[{"subj":"26752867-229-236-1465765","pred":"source","obj":"TEST0"},{"subj":"26752867-233-242-1465766","pred":"source","obj":"TEST0"},{"subj":"26752867-220-232-1465767","pred":"source","obj":"TEST0"}]},{"project":"2_test","denotations":[{"id":"26752867-25592846-60482831","span":{"begin":512,"end":515},"obj":"25592846"},{"id":"26752867-25852148-60482832","span":{"begin":1348,"end":1353},"obj":"25852148"},{"id":"26752867-25595637-60482833","span":{"begin":1348,"end":1356},"obj":"25595637"}],"attributes":[{"subj":"26752867-25592846-60482831","pred":"source","obj":"2_test"},{"subj":"26752867-25852148-60482832","pred":"source","obj":"2_test"},{"subj":"26752867-25595637-60482833","pred":"source","obj":"2_test"}]}],"config":{"attribute types":[{"pred":"source","value type":"selection","values":[{"id":"TEST0","color":"#93eca6","default":true},{"id":"2_test","color":"#ec939a"}]}]}}
