Plasticity models\nResults show faithful implementation of the chosen short-term plasticity model (Markram et al., 1998). The detailed reproduction of this model endows the neuromorphic system with a corresponding rich behavioral repertoire, which could be employed for e.g., reproduction of population dynamics in cultured neurons (Masquelier and Deco, 2013) or simulation of short-term memory (Rolls et al., 2013).\nThe long-term plasticity rule is also reproduced well, opening up a host of information-theoretic applications, such as studies of memory retention, information content or classification performance of a network (Brader et al., 2007). Other flavors of long-term plasticity rules could also be supported by our neuromorphic system.
