It would be challenging to separate the effect of a single nutrient or food group from that of others in free-living populations. Chance findings may arise from indiscriminate multiple statistical testing and from inadequate control for confounding in observational studies. The available evidence from intervention trials focusing on the efficacy of single nutrients as disease-modifying agents in asthma is largely inconsistent.12,13"}
