Briefly, cryostat sections were fixed in acetone vapour for 3 min and endogenous peroxidase was blocked using 1% H2O2. Sections were incubated overnight with 2.4G2 (1 μg/ml) in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS)/0.1% bovine serum albumin (BSA). Sections were washed in PBS and then incubated with rabbit anti-rat IgG coupled to biotin (Vector Laboratories, Burlingame, CA, USA). Then the sections were incubated with avidin biotin complexes (ABC; Vectastain Elite-kit, Vector Laboratories) and developed using diaminobenzidine (Sigma Chemical Company, St Louis, MO, USA)."}
