Pepper leaves (Capsicum annuum, Capsicum frutescens) may also be used. It was thought that this \"heats\" the horse which makes it drink more water. These practices were said to \"cool down\" the horse's system and bring out the \"heat\", the animal sweats a few hours later. In previous times horses were taken to the river to stand up in the water for an hour after the race. Rachette (Nopalea cochenillifera) joints were pounded up, put in water, and given to horses to drink, they \"sweat it out\" and this helps them reduce their temperature. Horses were also bathed with bay leaves (Pimenta racemosa) to make them feel cool. A decoction of one or two cups of bay leaves was added to a half bucket of water, this liquid was then used to sponge the horse. Alternatively they were sponged with bay rum. Bay rum is a mixture of bay oil extracted from leaves of Pimenta racemosa, alcohol and water.","divisions":[{"label":"Title","span":{"begin":0,"end":26}}],"tracks":[{"project":"NEUROSES","denotations":[{"id":"T222","span":{"begin":40,"end":43},"obj":"CHEBI_52027"},{"id":"T223","span":{"begin":76,"end":79},"obj":"PATO_0001801"},{"id":"T224","span":{"begin":76,"end":79},"obj":"PATO_0001824"},{"id":"T225","span":{"begin":190,"end":195},"obj":"PATO_0002122"},{"id":"T226","span":{"begin":201,"end":206},"obj":"CHEBI_46629"},{"id":"T227","span":{"begin":377,"end":382},"obj":"CHEBI_46629"},{"id":"T228","span":{"begin":201,"end":206},"obj":"CHEBI_15377"},{"id":"T229","span":{"begin":377,"end":382},"obj":"CHEBI_15377"},{"id":"T230","span":{"begin":575,"end":580},"obj":"CHEBI_46629"},{"id":"T231","span":{"begin":674,"end":679},"obj":"CHEBI_46629"},{"id":"T232","span":{"begin":935,"end":940},"obj":"CHEBI_46629"},{"id":"T233","span":{"begin":1122,"end":1127},"obj":"CHEBI_46629"},{"id":"T235","span":{"begin":575,"end":580},"obj":"CHEBI_15377"},{"id":"T236","span":{"begin":674,"end":679},"obj":"CHEBI_15377"},{"id":"T237","span":{"begin":935,"end":940},"obj":"CHEBI_15377"},{"id":"T238","span":{"begin":1122,"end":1127},"obj":"CHEBI_15377"},{"id":"T240","span":{"begin":764,"end":775},"obj":"PATO_0000146"},{"id":"T241","span":{"begin":947,"end":953},"obj":"PATO_0001735"},{"id":"T242","span":{"begin":1048,"end":1055},"obj":"CHEBI_60004"},{"id":"T243","span":{"begin":1110,"end":1117},"obj":"CHEBI_30879"},{"id":"T244","span":{"begin":1110,"end":1117},"obj":"CHEBI_16236"}],"attributes":[{"subj":"T222","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T223","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T224","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T225","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T226","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T227","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T228","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T229","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T230","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T231","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T232","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T233","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T235","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T236","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T237","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T238","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T240","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T241","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T242","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T243","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"},{"subj":"T244","pred":"source","obj":"NEUROSES"}]}],"config":{"attribute types":[{"pred":"source","value type":"selection","values":[{"id":"NEUROSES","color":"#e393ec","default":true}]}]}}
