Histologic observations indicate tumor implantation and survival in peripheral bronchioles. In these regions mucosal dysplasia and carcinoma-in-situ changes which characteristically accompany a primary lesion are notably absent. Morphologic changes associated with acute bronchitis and focally denuded bronchial mucosa may be implicated."}
