Although a tissue biopsy would normally be required to prove a case of IAPA, in tracheobronchitis cases hyphal elements suggestive of Aspergillus seen on sloughed-off pseudomembrane, and Aspergillus identified on culture or PCR, can also be considered proven disease (Table 1).
