Treatment of SARS Patients Patients with fever and other symptoms of respiratory infection are initially managed with broad-spectrum antibiotics and supportive therapy. After the diagnosis of clinical SARS is made and if there is no response to antibiotic therapy, combination therapy with ribavirin and systemic steroids is initiated. Intravenous pulse methylprednisolone is initiated when the clinical condition, radiological presentation, or oxygen saturation status of the SARS patients further deteriorates. The clinical characteristics, detailed management plan, and treatment regimen of this cohort of patients can be referred to a previous publication from our hospital (3).
