Rather than comparing all the disease connections, which would be computationally intensive, we applied the community-detection method in Gephi to the DDN in order to find subnetworks algorithmically. The method found nine communities; as shown in FigureĀ 5, the number of diseases in each community varied between clusters of 2 and 102.
