While the current outbreak seems to have been quelled and the vaccine trials look hopeful, it would be in the best interest of the international medical and public health community to consider the handling of future outbreaks in regard to the one that Africa has just experienced.[86878889] What the global community has learned about ethics and culture,[909192] and obligations for care,[93] let alone the controversies over vaccine trials,[94] are of primary importance. The enormity of the 2014-2015 Ebola outbreak presented the international community with important questions regarding global health governance and had reopened the discussion of political reform that is badly needed in order to achieve better health equity.[9596]
