Chronic inflammation is known to be associated with obesity, and white blood cell counts have been shown to increase with increasing BMI.40 Although the aim of this study was to investigate how much variation in BMI and height is captured by genetic and methylation differences irrespective of causality, we did perform the above analyses on cell-count-corrected methylation data as a sensitivity analysis.
