The plasma lipids levels of human apoB Tg. SHR-cp/cp rats were three times higher than those of human apoB Tg. SHR-+/+ rats. However, the aortic atherosclerotic lesions were comparable between human apoB Tg. SHR-cp/cp rats and human apoB Tg. SHR-+/+ rats (data not shown). Human apoB Tg. SHR-cp/cp rats also did not show prominent atherosclerotic plaques and coarctation of renal arteries. Thus it is suggested that the aortic lipid deposition would not cause exacerbated kidney dysfunction in human apoB Tg. SHR-cp/cp rats.
