While ΔE values obtained after the first bleaching session were low, the Beyond system resulted in significantly higher bleaching values compared to the other two bleaching agents with shades A2. This may be attributed to the high intensity halogen light activation used with this bleaching agent, which may have resulted in increased whitening. Janda et al demonstrated that composite color stability depends on the type of light used during the curing process, and that the use of tungsten halogen light results in bleaching of composite color by greater conversion of the camphorquinone initiators.6 Whether the increased whitening achieved with Beyond was due to enhancement of the oxidative process of the bleaching gel or to added conversion of remaining initiators requires further investigation.
