PCR, to amplify a portion of the NS5 region of SLEV, was performed essentially as reported previously (Fulop et al., 1993;  Table 1 ), except that an initial incubation time of 95°C for 15 min was used to activate the HotStar Taq polymerase (QIAGEN, Valencia, CA).
